Folk Style Certification (needed to officiate Folk style for AUSAW)
Can I officiate Folk Style? You can , IF you do not already have a current NFHS certificate and are a High School wrestler with 2 years of Folk Style experience and can prove your knowledge of the NFHS Folk style rules by passing this exam. This exam is open book either paper copy or from NFHS ALLACCESS Mobile application (free to set up an account and pay as you go for rule books. About $8 per book).
What is nice about the electronic version is you can do word search easily.

AUSAW Coaches & Officials,
The Safe Sport Certification is now a mandatory requirement from USAW for ALL Coaches and Officials from the minimum 13 year old age and up. Again, this pertains to all of them, no longer just those 18 and up. As it is for any Coach that bought a two year membership last year, the same applies to any 13-17 year old Coach or Official that renewed their membership prior to this going into affect in the Membership system, they to now must also go back in and complete Safe Sport to be eligible to Coach or Officiate at any AUSAW tournaments and for that matter, for any Coach working in any Club's practice room as well. Please take this requirement very seriously and enforce among yourselves and within your clubs.
The following is from Tony Black, Director of State Services at USAW: We are fully aware that this is incredibly sensitive material to discuss, as all types of abuse, misconduct (whether sexual or not), and grooming behaviors are sensitive by nature. The requirement is in place for anyone who is in a position of authority in USA Wrestling, and any other youth sport organization that is part of the Olympic Movement.
If you feel as though this is not appropriate for your 13-17 year old son or daughter to be exposed to this education at this moment, that is certainly something that we respect. It does mean, however, that he or she will not be able to be a member official and/or coach of USA Wrestling.
Thank you,
Bob Ottum
AUSAW Vice Chairman
Great things moving forward with Coaches Education including the addition of our USA Wrestling NCEP White Papers at the top of our Educational Resources link (focusing on Football + Wrestling = Success, Concussion Awareness and Corner Coaching Tips).
