From: Bob Ottum, AUSAW State Chairman & AUSAW State Tournament Director, 907-227-9153

Subject: 2025 Alaska USA Wrestling State Tournament - The Largest Wrestling Tournament in Alaska and Home of the Triple Crown

The excitement is building for the 2025 Alaska USA Wrestling State Tournament which will be held May 1, 2, 3, 2025 in Wasilla, Alaska at the Menard Center. Some items to remember when planning for this year’s tournament are as follows:

Ø  Coaches approved by their clubs will receive a 2025 AUSAW badge.

Ø  Weights are set per the USA Wrestling age/weight divisions – NO Madison bracketing

Ø  A schedule of events, tournament & registration information can be found on the AUSAW STATE tab at www.ausaw.org

Ø  Reminder: Thursday morning weigh in time for Folkstyle is ONLY 1 hour (7:00am-8:00am) so wrestling can start promptly at 10:00am.

Ø  As usual, one weigh in can be used for consecutive days wrestling. If you wrestle Folkstyle but then do not wrestle Greco, all 10U and up in boys and girls Freestyle tournaments must re-weigh-in on Friday night for Saturday Freestyle because it’s not consecutive.

Ø  Wrestlers must bring a printed copy of the wrestler card to weigh ins. Phones will NOT be allowed in the weigh in area.

Ø  Absolutely NO bracket changes for Friday or Saturday morning after 8:45am either day. THIS WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED. Brackets will be posted Thursday evening for Friday and Friday evening for Saturday.

Ø  CHECK BRACKETS THE NIGHT BEFORE AND COME IN BEFORE 8:45AM THE NEXT MORNING IF ANY PROBLEMS, This helps us to start on time, which is very important.

Ø  ALL tournaments run all day, no staggered start times for different ages

Ø  Access to the wrestling area is limited to officials, wrestlers, 2 badged coaches per corner, one person per corner with a video band, and on Friday only, one parent escort per 6U and 8U.

Ø  We will be running 12 full mats: 8 in the arena and 4 on the turf. 6U & 8U Freestyle will ALL wrestle on the turf, other divisions wrestling on the turf are TBD.

Ø  The turf area will NOT be a play area.

Ø  $15.00 video wristbands will be available for purchase through Tickets in registration and on site. The video bands are good for all three days of the tournament. Please do not remove them. Reminder: the Video band is for VIDEO taking ONLY; it is NOT a floor pass.

Ø  Once a wrestler has wrestled, he will need to leave the wrestling area until his next match is assigned to a mat.

Ø  All wrestling fans need to be in the stands and not in the wrestling area; a security team is going to keep the wrestling area clear. This is for the safety of our wrestlers.

Ø  Teams will be required to assist with supplying items and a cash donation for the Officials and Coaches Hospitality Room. A separate document has been sent with more details. Only officials and coaches with coaches’ bands will be allowed in the hospitality room.

Ø  Team leaders are requested to help police the wrestling area to ensure we have a safe environment for all wrestlers.

Ø  The Menard Center is charging for RV Parking again this year and has a map of the specific RV parking areas available. Please adhere to their rules and contact them directly for more information.

Ø  Team Alaska information will be available at the tournament and on our website: www.AUSAW.org.

Ø  Online Registration will be available and the PRIMARY/PREFERRED form of registration. Onsite registration is $60 per event

Ø  Electronic bout sheets will be used for this tournament and a screen will display mat assignments. The wrestling tournament can be followed live at www.usabracketing.com and will be live video streamed for all 4 Events.

Ø  Teams are REQUIRED to provide a responsible adult carded coach or official for Thursday evening & Friday evening weigh in times to assist with skin checks & weigh ins. Please send an email to [email protected] with the name and cell# of your designated adult/adults and the days/times they will be available. Please be willing to help when called upon at the time.

With all your assistance, this year’s tournament will be another successful event!

I would like to thank you all in advance for your support.
